cOMPETITION Season
COmpetition Schedule
Our competition teams attend 5 regional competitions and one national competition. We also offer 1-2 optional competitions for soloists who want additional opportunities to compete.
Competition dates, fees, and details are given out at the beginning of the season and are mandatory events. Competition & media fees are due 2 months prior to the competition date.
Advanced dancers can join our convention team that trains for one hour of stylized training per week and attends 3 conventions.
COmpeTition Showcase
Our Competition Season officially begins in February with our annual Competition Showcase. This special event gives all of our small groups, large groups and lines the opportunity to perform in full costume, hair and makeup, with props, on a professional theater stage.
The Showcase serves several important purposes. It allows our studio community to come together and support one another, gives dancers valuable stage experience in front of a live audience before their first competition, and provides the director with an opportunity to view all routines, make notes, and identify areas that may need additional cleaning and refinement before competition season begins.
Special Events
In addition to competitions, there are several required events throughout the season that are an important part of the DSAPA Competition Team experience. These include:
• Team & Company Photoshoot
• Winter Recital
• Team Banquet
• Spring Recital
Attendance at these events is expected for all competition team members, as they provide valuable performance opportunities, team bonding experiences, and lasting memories throughout the season.
