AUDITION PROCESS

AUDITION PREP

After completing the audition intake form, families will receive the competition team contract. This contract outlines all financial obligations, requirements, expectations, and responsibilities for the season. We believe in complete transparency and do not have hidden fees.

Once the contract has been signed, dancers will receive access to our audition preparation videos. These videos contain the audition combinations for both team placement and specialty group auditions, allowing dancers ample time to prepare.

In addition, we will host an Audition Workshop where dancers can practice the combinations, ask questions, and gain confidence before audition day.

On the day of auditions, dancers will submit their audition fee, receive an audition number and have their photo taken. Each photo will include a placard displaying the dancer's name and competition age.

This process ensures that every dancer is clearly identified, individually evaluated, and thoughtfully considered throughout the audition and placement process.

If your dancer cannot attend our scheduled audition due to a conflict, we will set up a private audition.

Team Audition

All dancers will audition to be placed on a team carefully curated by the Director based on age, skill level, and overall fit. We offer competitive teams for dancers of all ages and experience levels.

Age Divisions

Petites: Ages 3–5

Minis: Ages 5–8

Juniors: Ages 9–11

Teens: Ages 12–14

Seniors: Ages 15–18

Each team trains together in their core classes and competes two large group routines throughout the season.

Age divisions are determined by a dancer's competition age, which is based on their age as of January 1st of the competition year. Whatever the dancer’s age is on January 1st, is considered their comp age.

Final team placement is determined by the Director and takes into consideration age, technical ability, performance quality, work ethic, and the overall needs of each team.

To ensure a fair and thorough placement process, every instructor present at auditions evaluates each dancer and records the level they believe is most appropriate. The Director then reviews all instructor feedback when making final team placements.

Specialty Groups

For dancers who want more than the two required team dances, we offer an audition for specialty routines. These auditions are considered “Phase 2” of the audition process and are optional. Dancers can audition in the following genres: jazz, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, musical theater acro and tap.

After the audition, the staff will put together small groups, large groups and lines for each age, level & genre. Each routine will have a 30 minute rehearsal scheduled weekly throughout the season.
